Artist Statement

Peacemaker Efeoghene, explores mainly figurative and landscape concepts in his professional practice to convey socio-cultural concepts and phenomenon as reflected in society. His studio research to discover drawing methods seek inquiry into unfamiliar areas that arouse intellectual questions resulting to laborious activities for possible answers and novel approaches to express-self in visual and digital media. He mastered the act and the art of illustrating in different media rendition, such as the pencil and pen in visual and digital conceptualization. His drawing concepts are usually anatomical, proportional with perspective principles to represent interesting studies such as objects, modelled figures and landscape genres. His passion for quick sketches from posed and unconscious postures of single figure or groups of models, generated for him a sketchbook drawing library or archive for his painting concepts. He at time draw ideas from photo-images of human or animal figures.

Peacemaker illustration was motivated by the evolvement of visual drawing creativities dating from the primitive era of the Cave (Rock art) artists to the Medieval and Civilization Ages, till the Renaissance and contemporary times of advanced forms of drawing expressions. This kindled my passion for further studio inquiries into newer artistic knowledge in drawing illustration. He is an Apostle of the dynamism of Contemporary figurative expressions in different styles of pencil, pen line-strokes, harsh and cross-harsh techniques. In one of his artistic researches (in 2015), he discovered a unique technique termed "Squeeze 8" - a drawing style initiated from the numeral figure 8 (eight). It has to do with incorporation of figure into visual drawing to express line drawing and shading technique on paper. This involves scribbling of several, with pencil or pen to achieve pictorial concepts in lines and forms to represent light, shade and depth effects.

Pen drawing illustration, is another art form Peacemaker extensively explores in his illustrations to uniquely demonstrate his versatility, especially in figurative concepts he was commissioned by notable book authors and publishing outfits. His illustration concepts were mainly educational, religious, social subjects, or themes (titles) generated by requesting clients, contract agents or organizations representatives. Below are some of Peacemaker Efeoghene drawing illustration. He has to his credit over 1,500 drawing illustrations in contract works, since 2016 when he started practicing as a professional illustrator (not only in visual concepts, but also in digital media applications).
